Where has the time gone? It all started 36 years ago.
Gary Derych, Founder of Grout Grouch
I started Grout Grouch in 1990 after learning the service business from my grandfather and father. I was not thinking about what Grout Grouch might become 36 years later. I was building a local company, earning customers one job at a time and learning what it took to make a specialized service business last.
Thirty six years later, I still oversee two company owned Grout Grouch locations. The company has changed with the times, but the work has always remained focused on ceramic tile maintenance. The Grout Grouch name has also been used by independently owned operations since 2007.
Those years shaped the brand in a way that cannot be created in a design meeting. I have watched how homeowners respond to the name, the trucks, the advertising and the way the company presents itself. Much of the Grout Grouch identity you see today came from paying attention to what worked, what did not and what customers remembered.
My role today is to guide the direction and continued development of the brand. Grout Grouch represents a lifetime of work to me, and I still care deeply about where it goes next. We also have a broader team carrying the brand forward. If you are considering the Grout Grouch name for your own company, I want you to know there is real history behind it and an organization committed to its future.
